Spotlight on National Nurses Week (May 6 – 12) Honoring Profession, Strong Commitment to Compassionate Care and Patient Safety

5/5/2010 - As Stroke Coordinator for NorthShore University HealthSystem Highland Park Hospital, Jenifer L. Green, APN, played a major role in securing certification as a Primary Stroke Center. Green, in concert with nursing education, worked tirelessly to coordinate comprehensive education for close to 100 stroke, intensive care unit and emergency department nurses, and her professionalism and pride in the program were consistently recognized by colleagues at all levels.

Green’s commitment to teamwork and cultivation of a collegial atmosphere within and across departments helped guide an almost two-year multi-disciplinary effort. Quick to deflect praise to those around her, Green is a consummate mentor who is dedicated to the nursing profession and the highest standards of patient care. She has become a passionate advocate for stroke awareness and education, supporting critically important outreach efforts to inform the community at large.

In March 2010, NorthShore University HealthSystem received Magnet recognition - the only organization in Illinois to receive this prestigious designation as a system. The award, given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), recognizes health care organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing and high standards in patient care.
