Psychological Evaluations for Patients Considering Weight Loss Surgery

The Psychology Service also offers comprehensive psychological evaluations for patients being evaluated for bariatric (weight loss) surgery.

We see patients that are working with NorthShore University HealthSystem Bariatric Services as well as from other medical centers.

Evaluations usually last approximately two hours and involve an in-depth clinical interview and a series of questionnaires that the patient is asked to complete to better understand his or her emotional health and eating behaviors.

Dependent on findings, referrals can be made to providers both within psychiatry, as well as to other disciplines, to help patients maximize their post-surgical weight loss success. A referral from a bariatric surgeon is required prior to scheduling.
