My husband really wanted to be at home and palliative care and hospice made that possible, it gave us a month at home. He felt better and it was a good month….Three months after my husband died I called Thom Dennis who does grief counseling for survivors and he has been my rock for the last two years, guiding me through this process and helping me gain back a semblance of a life. Thom got me to journal, and I found it to be very therapeutic. I continue to have interactions with the nurses; it’s remarkable how caring all of the staff at NorthShore are. ~Lee Sorenson

At NorthShore, I know I can call on any member of my team any time; we have so many wonderful resources and I think we do an excellent job of providing care for the whole family. End-of-life care can be provided where the patient and the family want, wherever it is most comfortable. It is so rewarding to know I’ve assisted patients stay in their home, in a loving and comfortable environment. There are wonderful memories for the family and for us; I’ve learned so much from my patients. ~Anne Howington, RN, BSN, CHPN
