The Office of Academic Affairs' central focus is to effectively train medical students, residents and fellows as well as other allied health professionals. This is essential to the health and well-being of our patients and helps to ensure that high-quality healthcare providers will be available for generations to come. Our educational programs include:

Academic Affiliation

NorthShore University HealthSystem is the primary teaching affiliate of the University of Chicago. The two institutions share a commitment to medical education, clinical investigation and excellent patient care. The two institutions unite one of the premier medical schools in the country with one of the nation’s leading teaching hospitals.

Our affiliation adds an important dimension to NorthShore’s capabilities. The Pritzker School of Medicine brings a sharp focus to complex care and biomedical science with many distinguished programs that draw patients from across the country. Combined with NorthShore’s established reputation for advanced information technology and its strong clinical and teaching environment, this affiliation represents an exciting advancement inpatient care for the community.

Simulation Training

NorthShore is committed to using high fidelity simulation technologies to improve medical education and enhance patient safety. The Grainger Center for Simulation and Innovation (GCSI) boasts a multi-specialty, multi-disciplinary simulation center that mimics multiple healthcare settings including the emergency room and the operating room. The center provides an environment in which health care education, training and research can be safely and effectively accomplished.

NorthShore’s Office of Academic Affairs provides oversight for the educational activities throughout our integrated healthcare system. The office maintains the academic affiliation with the University of Chicago and encourages a vibrant relationship between physicians and scientists from both organizations. Under the leadership of the Chief Academic Officer, critical infrastructure to support educational programs and research is provided.
